The glass is starting to crack The pressure has become too much Too frequent Once the first chip appeared There was no going back Only more breaking Only larger cracks I remember a time before there was glass Back when the glass was sand What a beautiful thing to be sand To be so broken, that you are unbreakable But like all beautiful things It cannot last The sand was ripped away And placed into a mold chosen for it Subject to heat and pressure Pressure and heat Until it was no longer sand But beautiful glass, fragile glass What happens when the glass shatters? When all you’re left with is shards?
