Goings On: Zine-Making was Sublime; Tonight, it's Mindful Writing
Writing Group goes Retro using Actual Scraps of Paper
by Samantha Flaherty
The evening of November 9th was a warm and fuzzy one, as the band of writers from our collaborative writing group came together to create small, paper booklets of unique self-published works, ranging from topics like the importance of music, letters to lovers, and self-care. Some students also worked with more complex ideas such as crafting strategic riddles with underlying meanings, like the destruction that hate can cause.
Playful chatter started the evening as friends caught up with friends and discussed their creative plans for the night. Lo-fi beats then mellowed the writing atmosphere as each of us brought our mini masterpieces to life.
The student-run SSU Writing Group likes to mix things up. Join us tonight, December 7th, for a mindful writing workshop at 7:00 p.m. in the Mary G. Walsh Writing Center!
