Wanna Study and Travel Abroad?

Students in front of Les Invalides in Paris
By: Charisse Thompson
Last semester I was fortunate enough to travel to Paris, France with Salem State. It was an amazing experience to go to Paris, and it was my first time traveling to Europe. The trip was available through two classes, or you could go on the trip without being registered for one of the courses. If you were signed up for one of the classes, you were eligible to get financial aid for the trip.
The flight to Charles de Gaulle Airport was around 7 hours long, and the flight attendants made the trip as comfortable as possible. You might think going abroad with teachers as chaperons might be a drag, but the amount of freedom we had on the trip was amazing. There was a schedule during the day, and then after five you were left to make plans for dinner with your friends or discover how beautiful Paris is after nightfall.
The itinerary had us visiting major landmarks together as a group, or if you wanted you could just do your own thing, with another person of course. The only rule of the trip was to always travel with someone, and that was just for safety.
Every school year there are travel abroad trips, and it’s something I would recommend that everyone experience. There are trips this Spring Break for destinations such as: Portugal, Italy, Barbados, London and Northern Ireland. If you want to find out more about these upcoming trips just head over to the Center for International Studies in the Sullivan Building on North Campus or email them at studyabroad@salemstate.edu.
You won’t regret it for a second!
