(After Wendy Cope)
Tonight I watched the sun dip under the tide
Orange glow diffused the evening sky
I attempted a blurry picture that didn't quite capture its light
I still kept it hoping it would simulate this night
They never really do
The drive home was silent no need for radio buzz
I knew this road imprinted on me like a tattoo grown over with fuzz
Tonight though my mind wandered like the rushing tide
And this street was reimagined creating a divide
The houses around me were suddenly more than wood and paint
They were memories and families strangers to the ornate
The beat-up cars that had been there for years all had their own glory
With coins and lost treasures awaiting to re-enter our stories
That night I saw the orange in every regular thing
Like fairy dust working magic and adding bling
Nothing in life is simply comprised
I love this world and how it meets my eyes
