Registration -- Get Ready

By: Megan Grossi
Registration for the Spring 2017 begins on Tuesday November 1st. Seniors will be registering on the 1st, Juniors on the 2nd, Sophomores on the 3rd, and Freshmen on the 4th. Priority-registration students register on their respective year’s days at 7am, and the rest of the student body at 3pm.
Make sure to meet with your advisors to get your access code before the first week in November. If you do not know who your advisor is, you can find their name on your Navigator page under “My Academics”. If you do not have an advisor – maybe you switched majors without time for your department head to find a replacement or perhaps they retired – go to the Center of Academic Excellence and ask to speak to one of the advisors there.
This year, there has been much speculation over Priority Registration. Who does this apply to and why the times have changed, are questions to a number of students. Priority students include athletes and those with disabilities. Honors students will register at Priority time with Seniors, as has been done in the past.
As many returning students will remember, during registration each year the Navigation server can crash from excess use. Last year, according to the Registrar’s office on campus, they, along with the Assistant Chief Information Head and the Navigation Center met with the Student Government Association (SGA) to find a solution to these crashes. It was decided that the best remedy would be to break up the amount of students who would be accessing the system at one time. This distribution of students based on class and priority would ease the “volume issue” that comes about during Registration.
Before your time comes to register, validate your classes and continue to check that none of them have filled up. Full-time students must take a minimum of 4 classes to maintain any Financial Aid. Make sure to get all your ducks in a row.
