[poem] Something is Missing
by Conor Kilbride
My senior year is missing something.
I’m trying to find out what.
Maybe it’s my classes?
I scheduled classes last year that would have been fun.
Would have been fun.
Would have been fun in person.
But “in person” barely happened.
The classes weren’t horrible.
The classes weren’t “not fun.”
The classes weren’t missing.
But something is missing.
Maybe it’s my friends?
My friends and I were supposed to live together.
My friends and I were supposed to be together.
My friends and I were supposed to have a senior year together,
And now something is missing.
Maybe it’s the campus?
The clubs stopped meeting.
The sports stopped playing.
It feels like everyone stayed home.
I know something is missing.
I wish that something was only one thing.
I’ve been here the whole time
but I’m pretty sure
I’m missing my senior year.
