An International Student’s Workday
by Tingyi Lou
Due to all the online classes, I cannot return to campus and have the vibe in classrooms. Learning needs a kind of learning vibe. But home is the place for relaxing and being lazy. I tend to lose the self-control and persistence at home. I need to make some changes. If the mood is not aroused, it will become moldy. I can't help thinking that humans are really social animals. Because of the epidemic we can't maintain normal social activities, a constant depression remains in people’s mood. There are not many surprises. But it is also important to make this time meaningful and to be in harmony with myself. On days when there are not too many parties, it is also a pleasure to have book parties and in-depth conversations with ancient and modern philosophers. For those who derive their energy from outside, now they can derive their energy from books and writers everywhere.
The orange dim light is warm, and there is a kind of tipsy comfort. I gently touch the page corner by index finger for a while. Outside the window is of the gray, broken rain. Pedestrians come and go in a hurry, without missing a tree. Look at the way everyone is tightening up. It must be cold outside. I'm glad I'm so relaxed. Take a sip of the black tea latte, and let the thick sweetness fill my mouth and throat. For a moment, the air seems to be slightly sweet and full of sweet circles of ripples. Lie my back on a soft sofa and feel the subtle trickle of heat overhead. Rainy day goes best with coffee. Rain is a sentimental spirit, drawing people's rich artistic feelings, and the quiet cafe shop is the best place to brew your thoughts. You can warm and empty heart.
Here students do not worry about heavy academic work, and office workers do not worry about busy work. There is no material burden, only spiritual enjoyment. This is the transition point between fast and slow life. All the worries can be dissolved in a small cup of coffee, scattered in the time of an afternoon. After a cut of the elegant, slightly trendy background music, I suddenly return to my present meditation. Reading here is also exquisite, and prose is the most appropriate. Reading the tranquil words, drinking thick coffee, as if I taste not only the taste of coffee, and the meaning between the lines.
